History
St. Mary's Anglican Church, on New Plymouth's Marsland Hill, is New
Zealand's oldest stone church, dating back to 1842. The memorial was designed by
Archdeacon Walsh and is constructed of Victorian bluestone. It was
unveiled by the then Commandant of New Zealand's Military Forces, General Babbington on
27/8/1903.
