History
This stone fountain was unveiled by the then Governor of New Zealand, Lord
Islington on 26th January 1911. It was paid for by monies left over
from the public subscriptions given in aid of wounded or injured soldiers who
served in South Africa.
Water no longer flows from the fountain, the base of which has been turned into
a garden.
