This site is dedicated to the members of the New Zealand
Contingents who served in South Africa 1899 - 1902. Its aim is to make available
publicly accessible information on each member of the ten New Zealand
Contingents, and to provide additional biographical details of the veterans of
this conflict. Individual records may be accessed via the
Database menu.
This site aims to become the primary internet resource for researchers of New
Zealand's participants in the 2nd Anglo-Boer War. The database is currently
focussed on the members of the New Zealand contingents, but will expand to
include the many New Zealanders who served in other Imperial and locally-raised
irregular units.
Other resources on this site include specific information regarding the Queen's
and King's South Africa Medals as awarded to New Zealanders, including styles of
naming for each contingent. This is based on observation of hundreds of medals
in private collections and museums.
Access to the database is free, however if you have found the site to be useful
to your research and wish to show your appreciation, a small NZ$5 donation can
be made via PayPal through the Database page. |
